The Pacific Coast Ragtime Orchestra brings to life the sounds of the Ragtime Era
of the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
For over thirty years, PCRO has brought its spirited, authentic style to the music of such ragtime legends
as Scott Joplin, Joseph Lamb, Eubie Blake, James Scott, Percy Weinrich, Irving Berlin and others.
A favorite of dancers and concertgoers, PCRO performs annually at the West Coast Ragtime Festival
and regularly holds tea dances at Casa de Flores in San Carlos, California.
The orchestra has performed at the Sacramento Jazz Jubilee, and has been the featured orchestra three times
at the prestigious International Scott Joplin Festival in Sedalia, Missouri.
The group’s wind section, the Smalltimers, plays traditional ragtime as well as the music
of contemporary composers writing in the ragtime style. With unique arrangements,
the quintet performs music spanning the turns of two centuries.
The Gershwins said it all when they wrote,“The Real American Folk Song Is A Rag,”
so "come on along" and enjoy the music of a gentler time.
